McCray’s launches Bahamas relief drive
Community leader and business owner Derrick McCray is carrying his father’s legacy forward by stepping up to help rebuild The Bahamas.
The owner of McCray’s Backyard Bar-B-Q and Seafood is making a plea to the community of Riviera Beach and Palm Beach County to help fill a shipping trailer of necessities to send to the thousands who are now homeless after Hurricane Dorian.
McCray’s Backyard Bar-B-Q is teaming up with former Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters and The World Conference of Mayors, Youth Recreation Association, Monarch Shipping, Children’s Oasis International, Mothers Against Murderers Association, Nelson’s Outreach Ministry, and Operation Hope on this relief effort.
The shipping trailer will be parked at the McCray’s location on 1549 W Blue Heron Boulevard, just east of Avenue S in Riviera Beach.
The next step is to fill it with donations:
First aid kits, bottled water, diapers, wipes, paper towels, sanitary products, non-perishable food items.
Derrick is holding a news conference on Thursday at 10 a.m. to talk about the mission to help the Bahamian people.
“We have to stand with our families over in The Bahamas. I have Bahamian people who helped McCray’s Backyard Bar-B-Q get where we are today. We must be our brother’s keeper. I’m asking this entire community to step up and help,” said Derrick McCray.
