Derrick McCray, the owner of McCray’s Backyard Bar-B-Q, was among the invited dignitaries to the Children’s Oasis International banquet.
The banquet was held in honor of the organization’s 10th anniversary. McCray won the agency’s man of the year award several years ago. Founder Rae Whitely acknowledged and thanked McCray’s contributions to COI in the past.
Former Riviera Beach city councilman Bruce Guyton and Boynton Beach Commissioner Ty Penserga also attended.
COI helps to provide school supplies for children in Jamaica, Haita, Africa, and the United States.
As part of its mission of giving, COI presented a $3,000 check to Love Serving Autism. The money will help fund a historic trip to the US Open tennis championship in New York later this month
Love Serving Autism will also work with COI to bring its tennis program to children with autism in Jamaica.
