Legacy & Passion

“You have to be an artist to master the grill,” says owner Derrick McCray. The restaurant name came from his father, Herman McCray, Assistant Pastor at Greater Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Riviera Beach. The McCray family has over 86 years of grilling, which Derrick continues with McCray's Backyard Bar-B-Q.

We are the place to be for lunch, dinner and everything in between. Our goal is to serve the community with the best BBQ and homemade items that give a nod to the Backyard Bar-B-Q from which we came. Drive through, pick-up or place your order through delivery starting at 11 a.m. each day.

Backyard Bar-B-Q

McCray's is about history and legacy. From humble beginnings to catering the Super Bowl, we are renowned for our backyard style and ode to our neighborhood. We serve classic Floribbean with our world famous Twist Sauces, and our chicken and rib sandwiches are made the good old way.

Community Outreach

We help our community because not only is it our duty to give back, but because the McCray family has been on the frontlines of Civil Rights movements for decades, as well as driving philanthropy in Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach, and South Florida.

The McCray's Team

McCray's Backyard Bar-B-Q & Seafood was founded by the McCray family with its first location off of Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach in 1977. Since its humble beginning, the McCray's legacy continued with grill master Derrick McCray and now has a home in Mangonia Park. The operations team prides itself on working diligently to continue the legacy of the McCray's tradition, while making your dining experience the best it can be.
